Bishop Auckland and District Gun Club
Affiliated to Durham and Cleveland smallbore rifle association
We accept new members whether experienced shooters or not. We allocate the first Tuesday in each month for prospective members to come along, have a look round and see what we do. If you wish to come along on one of these evenings, you must contact the Club first.
Anyone who joins the club, joins as a probationary member. The probationary period lasts 6 months. During this time you will be able to attend the Club on Club nights (Tuesday's). You will be taught how to handle firearms safely, and also instructed in range discipline.
You will be able to shoot a variety of Club firearms and will be given some basic instruction in shooting, but the emphasis in the early stages is really on safety.
At the end of your probationary period, you would usually become an associate member. At this point you would be able to purchase a firearm of your own and the range would then be available 7 days per week.
In terms of cost, the membership fees are detailed below. The only other cost is for ammunition, which is around £ 5 per box of 50. In an evening, you would probably get through 50 rounds.
We hold a number of guest days during the year which allow the opportunity for Prospective members to look round the range, watch people shooting and ask any questions they may have.
Prospective members who wish to attend one of our Guest days, should contact the club via the contact link at the top of the page prior to arriving at the Club. Please state if you have had previous experience with firearms, and wheather you are a junior member (under 18 years old).
The annual subscription fees are:-
Adult                                               £ 130
Married / Civil Partnership             £ 195
Junior (under 18)                            £ 15
New members will also need to pay a joining fee of £ 20
